Our School

The spirit of Central Elementary School embodies the district's vision statement, “Continuing the Tradition of Achievement, Commitment and Excellence,” for our school. Central is certainly a wonderful place for students to grow and learn. The climate and culture of the building is one of community and family.  Once again this year, our building theme will focus on effort and achievement with the words “Nothing Less Than Your Best!" as a constant reminder of the expectations we hold for ourselves at Central Elementary School. Each day the students and staff of Central work diligently to be their best and to be people of character. Understanding that true character is really about choosing to do what is right and putting words into action, the students and staff of Central go to work. By engaging in several important service projects including Share-A-Christmas, the Tour du Rouge, and the Saint Jude Math-a-Thon, the Central community is able to make a difference in the lives of many people desperately in need of kindness and compassion.

During the month of April, parents, students, faculty, staff members, administration, and board members volunteer their time and talent to assist with the New Philadelphia City Schools “Make a Difference Day.” Throughout the city of New Philadelphia, a variety of projects take place that enhance the appearance of local sites and promote a sense of community that makes our district so special.

The SAILS leadership team or Student Activity and Involvement Leaders at Central Elementary School discuss, research, and learn about leadership.

With the arrival of the 201-12 school year, students and staff will share in a variety of activities built around our theme of “Get on Target at Central.” This initiative supports student goals built around punctual attendance, accountability, respect, goodness, effort, and thankfulness. Additionally, students and staff will use data to help foster student achievement and personal responsibility and accountability for learning. Students meeting the set criteria will be able to share in many great activities such as assemblies by ventriloquist Mark Wade and Jim “Basketball” Jones. Central Elementary School looks forward to another great year.
